The essay considers some topics of Gadamer’s hermeneutical philosophy, from the pedagogical perspective of the last part of its academic work. In the last years Gadamer in fact was particularly engaged in conferences about the meaning of education and self-education in the academic and cultural panorama of the twentieth century. His hermeneutical philosophy becomes the best way to analyze once more what education is, between language, Bildung and Humanism.
